Watteco - Modbus Master RS485 - LoRaWAN sensor
The LoRaWAN® ModBus Master RS485 sensor allows to collect data from ModBus devices. It transforms existing equipment into communicating objects via a public or private LoRaWAN® network. The sensor can modify the behavior of the ModBus equipment by writing in its registers.
The LoRaWAN® ModBus Master RS485 sensor allows to collect data from ModBus devices. It transforms existing equipment into communicating objects via a public or private LoRaWAN® network. The sensor can modify the behavior of the ModBus equipment by writing in its registers.
The RS485 ModBus sensor acts as a ModBus master. It manages a set of ModBus slaves connected on a wired bus (RTU mode). It has an interface allowing it to
to communicate with a remote server via a public or private LoRa network.
The sensor supports up to 8 different configuration profiles. The configuration of each profile (periodicity of data collection, equipment address, ModBus function code) is remotely configurable.
Installation and commissioning is quick and easy.
The sensor is equipped with :
- a switch (ILS) for activation and deactivation,
- LEDs allowing to follow the configuration and the association on the network.
Each sensor is identified by a QR code on the label and an NFC tag in the box.
Once the configuration is done, the data collection can start automatically and periodically.
Each time the sensor wakes up, it transmits ModBus commands to the addresses of the equipment, whose response is transmitted to the remote server. The server
can make a writing request in the bits or registers of an equipment.
The sensor does not interpret the ModBus (or JBus) commands: the list of functions to be executed and the equipment addresses are established by the remote server.
The sensor optimizes the content of the frame sent to the server. A sensor can thus read up to 16 continuous registers of 10 equipments connected on the
ModBus link.
Powered by a 3.6V/3,600 mAh battery, the sensor's autonomy is at least 10 years for a configuration performing 2 register collections and 2 transmissions of 4
bytes per day.
The battery voltage level can be regularly monitored remotely.
If necessary, the sensor can also be powered from an external 9-24Volts Vcc /100mW source.
