Heatit controls - Heatit ZM Thermostat 16A

It is not so straightforward to replace a “standard” Feller EDIZIOdue thermostat with a smart version. Thanks to the support of Swiss Domotique, they recommended this HeatIT ZM thermostat, which can replace a Feller device. But attention, even if compatible, installation it is not so straightforword for reasons I only discovered by doing. A) The thermostat cable (included) is needed to make the module function, there is no build-in thermostat sensor. The cable is however more than a meter long and does not fit into a typical wall box. The cable can be shortened, and this has no impact on the temperature reading. B) One needs a cover for the wall box, a standard. Cover plate does not let the room-air in and would not give a proper reading. I used a Feller door-bell cover, this one has plenty holes C) The module has a led-light, this can not be turned of in the zwave parameters unfortunately, hence the light shines through the openings of the cover plate, which is a little annoying. Planning to put some black tape over it. D) Most difficult part, and I have not solved it, if everything is well positioned, and the wall box is covered, the module produces heat, which off-sets the temperature sensor by a few degrees, and this is enough of an increase to not turn on the heating, hence the room stays cold. For now I leave the sensor sticking out, which does not look very professional. One can calibrate the sensor down by a max. Of 6 degrees, but this is not enough to make it work, as the temperature inside the wall-box easily goes beyond this difference. I hope it helps you anticipate your installation.

This is a simple thermostat that works. It is very well supported by the Fibaro HC3 gateway where I could set heating schedule and add a scene to stop the heating if the window is open and restart after it is closed back. All in a few minutes. It's a cost effective solution for regulating the temperature in a room with electrical heating, if you don't need a local display.
